Jamestown Plastics has a storied history spanning more than six decades. Read on to see company highlights over the years. 1958 Jamestown Plastics is founded in Jamestown, NY (hence our company name) by two partners working in less than 10,000 SF of space. Initial customer base is primarily preservation packaging for military bearings, durable commercial products, and consumer goods / retail. 1972 Prescotech (Erie, PA) acquires Jamestown Plastics and assigns James Baker, Vice President, the additional job of General Manager of Jamestown Plastics. 1976 James and Jacqueline Baker purchase Jamestown Plastics from Tannetics Corp, who had previously acquired Prescotech. 1984 Jay Baker becomes the first full-time salesperson after graduating from Clarkson University. 1984 The company’s first large in-line machine is acquired, helping us expand into the automotive aftermarket. 1985 Due to continued company growth, the company purchased a facility in Brocton, NY. The company moved to this 100,000 SF building in 1986. 1986 Expanded customer base within the consumer goods / retail, medical, and OE automotive markets. 1988 Established our in-house engineering / tooling department, providing us with greater control over our customers’ projects. 1991 Installed new water jet trimmer, which is a lot of fun when trimming foam! 1994 Recognizing the needs of our expanded customer base, we opened our operations in Brownsville, TX and hired Fernando Baca as our first team member in Texas 1996 Moved our Texas operations to a new 35,000 SF facility to provide better support for customers in the maquiladora of northern Mexico. 1997 Built a large Class 10,000 Clean Room in Texas facility to produce products for major medical device manufacturers. 1999 Jay Baker succeeds his father and becomes President of Jamestown Plastics. 1999 Celebrated the new millennium by working with Anheuser-Busch™ on their Budweiser™ Millennium Edition collector’s pack. 2004 Achieved ISO 9001 certification thanks in part to the late Jim Tennies who spearheaded the implementation of our Quality Management System. 2006 Bought first new robotic router trimming machine. 2012 Created a hood liner for the Tesla Model S introduction. 2015 Patented the Click-It™ Closure technology and the innovation surrounding it. This led to expansion into Certified Child Resistant packaging, additional solutions for the medical and cannabis markets, along with development of our own product lines, including Clamtainer™ and DoomBox™. 2016 Installed a new Sencorp Ultra to expand our deep draw capabilities, providing even more options for our customers. 2018 DoomBox Enclosed Mouse Trap debuts as the first certified child resistant mouse trap that also “keeps the mess with the mouse.” Today you can find it at various North American retailers and at DoomBoxTraps.com. 2020 Responding to the global pandemic and the lack of PPE within the United States, the Jamestown Plastics team very quickly designs the unique TrueHero™ Extreme Coverage Face Shield and is in full production within 72 hours of finalizing the design. The TrueHero was shipped to front-line workers and consumers across the country. 2021 Jessup Baker named President of Jamestown Plastics, becoming the third generation “Baker” to hold this position. 2022 Acquired Tamarack Packaging (Meadville, PA), expanding our commitment to Made in the USA manufacturing 2023 Jamestown Plastics becomes a USA-based member of the global MedTech Network and launches the Jamestown Plastics Medical website. 2024 Certified to ISO 13485:2016 at the New York and Texas locations.
